Payments Terms
The terms for Amino Engine's card payments setup — what it costs, when each fee is due, what is refundable, and what we do and do not do for your card processing.
Last updated October 15, 2026These Payments Terms apply when your brand buys card payments setup from Amino Engine ("Amino Engine", "we", "us"). They add to our Terms of Service, which still apply. If the two disagree about the payments service, these Payments Terms win.
1. What the payments service is
We help your brand take card payments on your own store. That means we:
- prepare your merchant application with you and submit it to a payment processor we work with (the "Processor");
- connect your store's checkout once the Processor approves you;
- give you access to your payments dashboard and an account manager who helps you with payouts, disputes and questions;
- run the platform and checkout your card processing runs on, for as long as your platform subscription is active.
2. What we are, and what we are not
We are not a bank and not a payment processor. We never hold, move or pay out your money.
When you apply, you also sign the Processor's own processing agreement (the "Processing Agreement"). That agreement is between you and the Processor, and it governs:
- whether your application is approved;
- payouts: when and how your money reaches your bank account;
- reserves and any funds held back;
- disputes and chargebacks;
- whether your merchant account stays open.
Those decisions belong to the Processor and its banking partners, not to us. We will help you with them, but we cannot overrule them. We do not promise that your application will be approved, how long a review will take, what reserve you will be given, or that your merchant account will stay open.
3. Fees
All fees are in US dollars and do not include any tax we are required to collect.
| Fee | Amount | When it is due |
|---|---|---|
| Setup fee, part 1 | $1,250 | When you submit your application. We do not submit it until this is paid. |
| Setup fee, part 2 | $1,250 | Within 7 days after your first live transaction. |
| Platform subscription | $500 per month | Monthly, starting on the day your checkout goes live. |
| Processing rate, under $100,000 a month | 12.5% + 49¢ per transaction | Billed by the Processor. |
| Processing rate, $100,000 a month or more | 9.5% + 49¢ per transaction | Billed by the Processor. |
Setup fee. The full setup fee is $2,500, paid in two halves as shown above. Your "first live transaction" is the first real, approved card payment a customer makes through your new checkout. Test payments do not count. When it happens we send you a link to pay part 2, along with the due date.
Platform subscription. Card processing through the Amino Engine checkout requires an active platform subscription. It costs $500 a month, starts on the day your checkout can first take live card payments ("go-live") and is billed to your card each month after that.
Processing fees. Processing fees, at the rate on your rate card, are billed by the Processor through your processing account, as set out in your Processing Agreement. Amino Engine does not take them out of your payouts. Any other per-event fees, such as dispute fees, are also set in your Processing Agreement and rate card.
Volume tier. Which rate applies is based on your approved card volume in the previous calendar month, and is reviewed each month.
How we charge you. You authorise us to charge the card you give us for the setup fee and the platform subscription when each one is due. Card details are handled by our billing provider; we do not see or store your full card number.
4. Refunds
Part 1 is refunded in full if the Processor declines your application. Otherwise, part 1 is non-refundable. That includes when you withdraw the application, when you do not give the Processor the information it asks for, or when you decide not to go live after being approved.
Part 2 is non-refundable once your first live transaction has happened.
The platform subscription is not refunded for a partial month, except where the law requires it.
5. Late payment
Part 2 of the setup fee. If part 2 is not paid when it is due:
- your account manager will contact you to sort it out;
- we may pause our platform services (your dashboard access, account manager support and the other services we provide) until it is paid;
- we do not switch off your card processing because part 2 is late.
The monthly subscription. If a subscription payment is not paid when it is due, your account manager will contact you. If it is still unpaid 7 days after we tell you, the subscription lapses and section 8 applies.
An unpaid fee is still owed. Pausing our services does not cancel it.
6. What you agree to do
- Give accurate information. Everything in your application, and every document you upload, must be true, complete and yours to give. Tell us promptly if anything changes: ownership, products, website, business address or bank account.
- Sell lawful products, lawfully. Only sell products that are legal where you sell them and where you ship them, and follow the law that applies to your business.
- Label your products for research use. Describe and label your products in line with our Acceptable Use Policy: research use only, no medical or therapeutic claims, and no instructions for personal use. The same rules apply to your store, your emails and your ads.
- Follow the Processing Agreement and card network rules, including clear refund, shipping and contact information on your store.
- Answer dispute and information requests quickly. Send what the Processor or your account manager asks for by the deadline they give.
- Use the account only for the business that applied. Do not take payments for any other business or website through it.
- Keep your logins safe, and tell us at once if you think someone else has access.
7. Sharing your information
To provide the service, you authorise us to share your application, documents and business information with the Processor and its banking partners, and to receive from them the status of your application and the transaction information we need to run the service (for example, to know when your first live transaction happens and to help you with payouts and disputes). The Processor handles that information under its own privacy notice. How we handle it is set out in our Privacy Policy.
8. Ending the service
Either of us may end the platform subscription with 30 days' written notice by email. You send notice to support@aminoengine.com; we send it to the email address on your account. The subscription is due for the notice period.
When the subscription ends, processing through our checkout ends. If the subscription ends, or lapses unpaid, card processing through the Amino Engine checkout ends on the day the subscription ends. Any processing relationship you hold directly with the Processor is yours to keep.
A late part 2 of the setup fee never ends your processing; an ended subscription does.
We may suspend or end the payments service sooner if you break these Payments Terms, the Terms of Service or the Acceptable Use Policy, if the Processor closes your merchant account, or if the law requires it. If the Processor closes your merchant account, the subscription stops at the end of the month you are in.
Ending the platform subscription does not end your Processing Agreement. That agreement has its own terms for closing your merchant account, final payouts and any reserve. Fees that were due before the end, including part 2 of the setup fee once your first live transaction has happened, are still owed.
9. Our responsibility
The warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability in our Terms of Service apply to the payments service. In addition, we are not responsible for the Processor's decisions, including a declined application, a reserve, held funds, payout timing, a dispute outcome or the closing of your merchant account.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Payments Terms. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a change to your fees takes effect. A change never applies to a fee you have already paid.
