Ask your AI to draft a flow
Give your AI a key, tell it what you want, and it builds the flow as a draft for you to check and switch on.
Where it is in the app
Open Home, choose Email & SMS, then Flows.
- Home
- Email & SMS
- Flows
You can connect an AI assistant such as Claude to your account and ask it to build a flow. It reads your lists, groups, events and designs, then creates the flow as a draft. A flow it builds is checked by the same rules as a flow you build by hand.
Nothing it makes sends anything until the flow is switched on.
#Connect your AI
Open Settings, then General, then API keys. Follow the Agents & MCP link to the Agents & API screen.
On screenSettings › General › API keysPress Issue key. Only an owner or admin can do this. The key is shown once, so copy it now. If you lose it, press Replace key and the old one stops working at once.
Under Connect an agent, copy the block for your tool:
- Claude Code: one line to paste into a terminal. Afterwards, type
/mcpin Claude Code andamino-engineis listed. - claude.ai or Claude desktop: in Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste the address and name it Amino Engine.
- Anything else: a plain web request with the key in the header.
- Claude Code: one line to paste into a terminal. Afterwards, type
Once you have issued a key, the blocks fill in your key for you. Treat it like a password. Anyone who holds it can build flows in your brand.
For the full list of addresses, tools and errors, see the developer articles on agents and the API.
#Decide how much freedom it has
Under How much rope, choose one:
- Build drafts only. It creates and edits flows and emails, and can pause a flow. A person switches each flow on. This is the default.
- May switch flows on. It can also turn a finished flow on by itself.
Press Save. The The agent is on badge and Switch it off button stop every request with the key, without deleting the key.
The What it can do table lists what each choice may and may not do. On either choice it cannot:
- change a flow while it is running (it pauses it first)
- change a trigger once it is set
- send a campaign
#Ask for a flow
Start the conversation with something like:
Read the guide, then build me a welcome series for people who join my newsletter list. Three emails over a week. Use my existing designs.
Good prompts name the trigger, the timing and which list, group or designs to use. The AI looks at what you actually have before it builds.
The flow arrives switched off, with the name it gave it, on your Flows list. Open it in the editor and check:
The trigger and any filters.
Each email step: Which design, and Subject line (optional).
The waits, and the splits.
Press Audit flow to see anything that would block switching on.
Then switch it on yourself, as described in "Turn on your first flow".
#See what it did
At the bottom of Agents & API, What the agent did lists each action: built a flow, edited a flow, wrote an email, paused a flow. Press Full log for the whole activity log.
#If it didn't work
- "This brand lets the agent build drafts only." That is the cautious choice working. Switch the flow on yourself, or pick May switch flows on.
- Your AI gets a refusal. The agent may be switched off, or the key was replaced or revoked. Check The agent is on, and paste the new key if you replaced it.
- It cannot change a flow. A live flow is read-only. Ask it to pause the flow first, or turn it off yourself.
- It built a text step but the flow will not switch on. Texts need a registered business and a texting number first. See "Register your business for texting".
- You cannot issue a key. Only owners and admins can. Ask one on your team.
