Some pages are not on your shop. They are hosted for you and linked from your emails and forms. You can change their words so they sound like your brand.

Open Settings, then Other, then Consent pages. The Pages table lists five pages. Each shows Default wording until you change it, then Yours. Press Edit on a row.

#The five pages

  • Unsubscribe page. Where the Unsubscribe link in every email footer lands. The page has one button, starting as Unsubscribe me, and it takes effect straight away.
  • Preferences page. Where Manage preferences lands. Every marketing email links to it, beside Unsubscribe. People choose fewer emails here instead of none.
  • Sign-up page. Your hosted sign-up page, and any form that uses it.
  • Check your inbox. Shown after someone signs up when confirmation by email is on. It has no button.
  • After it worked. Shown after any of the above has worked. It has no button.

#Change the words

  1. Press Edit on the page you want.

  2. Change Heading, up to 120 characters.

  3. Change What it says, up to 800 characters.

  4. For pages with a button, change Button, up to 40 characters.

  5. Press Save. You see Saved.

The page opens inside Settings, so you can press All consent pages to go back. Empty fields go back to the default wording. Changes apply to every form and email that uses the page.

#What the preferences page offers

When a customer follows Manage preferences, they can:

  • Update their details, such as first name and other fields you have set up.
  • Tick the Topics they want to hear about (see below).
  • Choose How much email they get: Everything, Fewer emails (only emails their own activity triggers, no campaigns) or Stop all marketing email.
  • Choose How often: However often they send, At most one email a day, At most one email a week or At most one email a month.
  • Switch Marketing texts on or off. Order and delivery texts are unaffected.

Order and account emails still reach people who stop marketing email.

#Topics

The Topics card, lower on the same screen, lists what people can choose between on the preferences page. Without topics, people can still ask for fewer emails or none at all.

  1. Press Add a topic.

  2. Under What people will see, type a short name such as New products.

  3. Optionally add A line explaining it (optional), such as Restocks and anything new.

  4. Press Add.

The table shows each topic with the Name in a campaign, a short name made from your wording. It never changes, so choose the wording once. Remove deletes a topic.

#What people say when they leave

The What people say when they leave card counts answers to the optional question on the unsubscribe page, asked after someone has already unsubscribed. The choices are Too many emails, Not relevant to me, I never signed up for this and Something else, plus notes people type. If I never signed up for this is not zero, look at it: people are getting email they did not ask for.

#If it didn't work
