Where it is in the app

Open Home, choose Email & SMS, then Tools › Forms.

A form can sit inside a page, pop up over it, or slide into the bottom corner. You choose in the Where it shows card on the form's screen. Every form also has its own web page you can link to.

#Choose how it shows

Under Show it, pick one:

  • Inside the page, where I paste it. The form is part of the page. You paste one line of code where you want it.
  • As a pop-up over the page. A box over the page. Clicking outside it, or the ×, closes it.
  • In the bottom corner. A flyout in the corner of the screen. The × closes it.

The pop-up and the corner flyout need no code. Once the form is Live, the Amino Engine snippet already on your shop shows it. If it does not appear, check your shop is connected under Settings, then Other, then Integrations.

#Set when a pop-up or flyout appears

These settings appear for the pop-up and the corner flyout, not for a form inside the page. Each can be switched on or off.

  • After a few seconds. Between 0 and 300. The starting value is 5.
  • Once they scroll down. A share of the page, from 1 to 100 percent.
  • When they look like they are leaving. Exit intent. It fires when the pointer leaves the top of the window.
  • If you switch on more than one, the form appears when the first one happens. If you switch on none, it appears as soon as the page loads.

Then decide how often a visitor sees it:

  • If they close it has three choices: Never show it to them again, Show it again after a while (then set the number of days, 1 to 365, starting at 7) and Show it every time.
  • Don't show it to somebody who already signed up. On by default. We can tell if they signed up on the same browser before. We deliberately cannot look someone up by address from a shop page, because that would let anyone check whether an address is one of your customers.
  • Only on these pages. One per line, for example /shop and /blog. A page matches when its address contains the text you wrote. Leave it empty to show the form on every page.
  • A small tab to re-open it. Type a short line like Get 10% off. A small tab with those words stays on the page after someone closes the form. Leave it empty for none.

#Put a form inside the page

  1. On the Forms list, press Copy embed code on the form's row. You can also copy the line from Paste this where you want the box when you open the form.

  2. Paste it into your page where the box should appear.

  3. The line looks like <div data-ae-form="…"></div>.

Press Open page on the form's row, or Open its page at the top of the form. Every form has its own web page. Use it for an ad, a link in your bio, or a QR code. It works whichever way the form shows on your site. While the form is a draft you can look at the page, but it counts no views and accepts no sign-ups.

#Publish and pause

Under Publish, Status has three choices:

  • Draft — nobody sees it.
  • Live. Press Save. The message says Saved and live.
  • Off. Switches a live form off without deleting it.

On the Forms list, each row shows a chip for where it shows (In the page, Pop-up or Corner) and its status (Live, Off or Draft).

To delete a form, press Delete on its row, then Really delete. The embed code on your site stops working.

#If it didn't work

  • The pop-up never appears. Check the status is Live, not Draft. If you chose Never show it to them again or Show it again after a while, you may have seen it already. Open the page in a private window.
  • It only appears on some pages. Look at Only on these pages. Clear it to show everywhere.
  • The embedded form is blank. The form must be Live, and the code must be exactly as copied. Check the form's own page: if that works, the line on your site is the problem.
  • People say it keeps coming back. Change If they close it to Never show it to them again.
  • You fixed a typo and the old text still shows. Changes can take up to five minutes to reach your site.
  • The save fails. Read the message under the Save button. It names the field to fix.
