Where it is in the app

Open Home, choose Email & SMS, then Tools › Templates.

The editor is where an email is written. You type, add blocks from a menu, and watch a checklist tell you whether the email is ready to send.

#Open the editor

There are two ways in.

  1. In Email & SMS, open Templates and press Edit on a design built here. Designs you pasted in as HTML open a plain page with a checklist instead of the block editor.

On screenEmail & SMS › Templates
  2. Inside a campaign, on the Design step, press Edit design. That email belongs to the campaign alone.

The screen has the email on the left and a column of cards on the right: Subject, Brand and saved bits, Checks, and More settings.

#Name and subject

On a saved design, the name field at the top reads Untitled design until you type one. Only you see it. The Subject card holds the subject line. On a saved design the hint says "Every campaign using this design sends with this subject line." Changing it changes it for every campaign using the design.

#Add blocks

  1. Click in the email and type /. A menu opens.

  2. Type a word to narrow it, such as "button".

  3. Press Enter on the block you want.

The menu has these groups:

  • Amino Engine: Products from the cart, Only if…, one entry per coupon offer you made, and Social links once your brand kit has social profiles.
  • Blocks: Text, Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Bullet List, Numbered List, Image, Logo, Columns, Section, Divider, Spacer, Button and Custom HTML.
  • Saved: sections you saved earlier. "Manage your saved designs" explains saving one.

To add an image, use the Image block and upload a PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP file. Large images are refused, because heavy images slow every open.

#Put a name or data in the text

Type @ in a line of text. A list of merge tags opens. It starts with First name, Last name, Email address, Phone and Language, followed by your own contact fields. Each tag shows the person's own value.

#Product rows

The preview shows the most recent real basket on your brand. If there is none yet, the preview says so and shows nothing for that block. A campaign has no basket, so a product block in a campaign stays empty. It is meant for flows such as an abandoned basket.

#Show a block only sometimes

Only if… adds a grey box that appears only when a piece of data is set. Use it for something like a discount line that should disappear for people without a discount.

#Coupons

If you made a coupon offer under Tools → Coupons, it appears in the / menu as a block. The description reads "A code that is different for every person, created in your shop first." "Create a coupon offer" shows how to make one.

#Brand colours

The Brand and saved bits card has Use my brand colours if you set up a brand kit. It repaints the buttons and clears colours you set by hand. Words, pictures and layout stay. Without a kit, the card links to Set up your brand kit.

Under the email there is a locked box, Added to every marketing email. It adds your postal address and an Unsubscribe link. The law and Gmail and Yahoo require both. We fill them in from your brand settings when the email goes out. You do not add them yourself.

#Check, preview, save

  1. Checks lists each rule with a tick or a cross. "Manage your saved designs" explains Ready and Blocked.

  2. Press Preview & test at the top to see the email as Desktop or Phone and to send a copy to your team.

  3. Press Save. The message reads "Saved. Every check passes, so this can be used in a campaign." or "Saved, but it cannot be sent yet: 1 check failed."

Inside a campaign, the editor saves on its own after a pause. The top bar shows Saving…, then Saved just now.

More settings holds Preview line (the grey text after the subject), Replies go to, and a switch for Tag the links so your shop can see the sale came from this email. It is on by default.

A test copy needs the design saved first. Its subject is marked [TEST].

#If it didn't work

  • A subject line is required. Fill in the Subject card before you save.
  • Give the design a name. The name field is empty.
  • Preview shows nothing in a product block. No basket has been recorded yet.
  • You can see but not edit. Your role can read designs but not change them. Ask an owner or admin.
