How revenue is matched to your emails
The rule that credits a store order to an email, the settings that change it, and how to re-check past orders.

Every revenue number in Amino Engine comes from one rule: an order is credited to the last email the buyer clicked before it. This article covers the rule and the settings that change it.
#The rule
Your shop sends us an order.
We find the person on your list who placed it.
We look for the last email that person clicked in the click window before the order. The window is 5 days unless you change it.
If we find one, that email gets the credit, and the order counts as email revenue. It can be a campaign or a flow message.
If we find none, the order stays in your store's total and shows as not from email.
Four things follow from this:
- Opens never count. Apple Mail opens mail nobody read, so an open is not a decision. Only a click can earn an order.
- Only the last click counts. If someone clicks two emails, the second gets the credit.
- Refunds and cancellations adjust it. A cancelled order is taken out. A refund lowers the revenue credited.
- Your own team's orders are left out. Test orders placed by people on your team are not credited to email.
Orders we can't tie to someone on your list show as Not matched to a person on the Analytics Revenue tab.
#Change the rule
Open Settings and choose Attribution from the rail. You need permission to edit settings.
#The rule card
Under A click counts for ___ days, type a whole number from 1 to 30. The usual setting is 5. A longer window starts crediting email for orders it had nothing to do with.
Under Receipts, tick Don't let order confirmations earn revenue if you don't want a reorder click inside a receipt credited to the receipt. Receipts only go to people who already bought.
Press the save button at the top of the card. The message reads "Saved. New orders use this from now on."
#What we ignore
The card What we ignore says "Machines click and open email. Neither should earn revenue."
- Ignore clicks made by security scanners is on by default. Company mail systems open every link before the person sees it. Those clicks are left out of your click rate, and campaign reports say how many were removed.
- Only count opens we can attribute to a person changes which open number your open rate uses. It is off by default. Emails sent before 4 September 2026 are all counted as read by a person, because we only started telling them apart that day.
#What counts as an order
The card What counts as an order lists the shop events used as purchases, for example order_created and order_paid. Press Change which events count to open the Activity tab, where you can change them.
#Compare before you change
Press Compare at the top of the Attribution page. The box asks "What would a different window do?" and says nothing is saved.
Type a number of days under Try a click window of ___ days.
Pick Last 30 days or Last 90 days.
Under Receipts, choose Same as now, Receipts earn nothing or Receipts can earn.
Press Show me.
You get two boxes, Now and If you changed it, and a table, Line by line. It covers revenue from email, orders from email, share of everything you took, and revenue not from email. The total your shop took does not change. Only the email share moves.
#Re-check past orders
New settings apply to new orders straight away. To apply them to orders you already had:
Find the card Re-check past orders.
Press Re-check the last 90 days.
Refresh the page after a moment. A line reports the result, such as "Re-checked 1,240 orders from the last 90 days against a 5-day window. 210 of them came from email."
Reports covering that period will change.
#Tracking switches
Settings, then Email, then Tracking has two switches under What we record:
- Track opens. Off means no future email carries the tracking image. Opens already recorded stay.
- Track clicks. Off means links go straight to your shop and we cannot see who pressed them. Orders can no longer be credited to an email, because the credit follows a click. Leave this on.
The same page has the card Tags added to every link. It sets utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content for Campaigns and Flows. {{name}} becomes the name of the campaign or flow. A tag left empty is not added. A campaign that sets its own tags wins. Don't put a person's details in these tags, because they end up in your shop's analytics.
#If it didn't work
- Email revenue is $0. Check that Track clicks is on and that your store sends purchase events. See "Check your store is being tracked".
- A number moved after I changed the window. That is expected. Press Re-check the last 90 days to bring older orders in line.
- "Pick between 1 and 30 days." The window is outside the range.
