Read your ad account's status
What the status, readiness checklist and payment words mean on an ad account, and what to do about each one.
Where it is in the app
Open Home, choose Advertising, then Dashboard.
- Home
- Advertising
- Dashboard
Each ad account has its own page. Open the dashboard, stay on the By account tab, and press the account's name.
#The top of the page
The account's name, then a status in plain words. If Meta has switched the account off, the same line says why. Beside it:
- Open in Meta opens the account in Meta's Ads Manager in a new tab. We open it for you; we never drive it.
- A 7 days / 30 days / 90 days switch changes the window for the figures on the page.
Below it, a row of figures:
| Figure | What it is |
|---|---|
| Ready | The headline of the checklist below: Ready, Needs a card, Needs a page, or Meta's own verdict. |
| Spend · 7 days, ROAS · 7 days | Money out and Meta's own return figure. |
| Impressions · 7 days, Clicks · 7 days, Sales · 7 days | Meta's counts. Sales are Meta's pixel count, not your store's order count. |
| Reach · added up daily | People reached, added up day by day. Someone who saw your ads on two days counts twice. |
| Delivering | How many campaigns are delivering now. |
| Turned down | How many ads Meta has refused. |
#Why Meta may have switched an account off
When an account is disabled, the page says which of these applies:
- Meta says an ad broke its advertising rules.
- Meta is reviewing a copyright or trademark complaint.
- Meta thinks the payment method on this account is risky.
- Meta shut the account down and has not said why.
- Meta is reviewing the account for policy reasons, or the business behind it.
- The account is closed for good, or was closed as an unused reseller account, or never used.
- It is an umbrella account and cannot run ads itself.
Only Meta can undo these. Use Meta's own appeal route, then Sync now on the dashboard.
#Before this account can run an ad
A checklist with a Ready chip at the top. Two lines are required. Without them Meta does not deliver an ad at all:
- Card on file. Add a payment card to this ad account on Meta's billing page. We cannot add a card for you.
- Facebook page. Pick the page this account posts as. Meta only lists pages an account has already run ads with, so a new account can look empty here even when you own a page.
The other lines are advice and never block a launch:
- Pixel shared. Share your pixel with the account so it can optimise for sales instead of clicks.
- Audience terms accepted. Accept Meta's custom audience terms. It is one click. Nothing that leaves out past buyers works until it is done.
- Audiences built. Exclusion lists that keep your ads off people who already bought.
- Warm-up understood. A new ad account spends slowly for its first two weeks. Tick this once you have read what that means.
Only unfinished lines show instructions. An account that is already running ads says "Already running ads."
#Payment words on the Fleet tab
On the dashboard's Fleet tab, the Card column shows the card on file, or one of these problems:
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unpaid bill | Meta has an unpaid bill on the account. |
| Grace period | The account is in a grace period after a failed payment. |
| Waiting on a payment | A payment is settling. |
| No valid card | The account is running but has no valid payment method. |
| Spend limit reached | The account hit its spend cap. |
| Not checked | We could not read the card yet. That is not the same as having no card. |
#Campaign statuses
Campaign and ad rows use plain words: Running, Paused, Deleted, Archived, Starting, In review, Rejected and Has a problem. Running is Meta's Active.
#If it didn't work
- The account says Needs a page but you have one. The page has to be one the account has run ads with, or one chosen when you launch. Pick the page when you launch ads. See "Bulk upload ads".
- A card is on Meta but we say Not checked. Press Sync now. A failed read is shown as Not checked, never as no card.
- The figures look old. They update on a schedule. See "Read the Advertising dashboard".
